Neosporin Essentials – Here’s help for eczema sufferers!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™ for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Both of my children experienced horrible eczema when they were younger.  What is eczema?  It’s a skin condition that is inflammatory and results in dry, itchy skin and a rash.  The external layer of skin for eczema sufferers is different in that it allows the moisture to leave more quickly.  This is why there is excessive dryness.  Certain things trigger eczema outbreaks, such as wool, cold and dry weather, soaps, and rough textures.  People can have eczema on their face (adults have it more on their neck) and in the crooks of their elbows and knees.  I was amazed to learn that eczema affects so many people – approximately 35 million Americans!  That is an extremely large number!

Thanks to Neosporin, a new line of skin care products has been developed to help eczema sufferers.  This product line is the NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™, which includes a Daily Moisturizing Cream, Daily Body Wash, and Anti-Itch Cream.  Each product contains a RELIPID™ formula that helps retain any moisture.  These products sounds great and would have been perfect for my kids when they were younger!

The Daily Moisturizing Cream is safe for the whole family!  It doesn’t contain antibiotics, but has been shown through research to be just as effective.  It doesn’t contain any steroids or fragrances.  It’s been proven to improve the overall skin health of consumers, but also improving the function of that outside layer of skin I previously mentioned.  The Daily Body Wash is similar in terms of being fragrance free and not containing any antibiotics.  It is also soap free, but keeps you clean.  The Anti-Itch Cream is to be used for the flare-ups.  It contains hydrocortisone, but does not contain fragrances or antibiotics either.  This cream helps to reduce the itching and the flaking.

Neosporin also provide tips for eczema sufferers to assist them in coping with fall and winter weather.  Fall is “back to school” time, which can be stressful for both students.  Since stress can be another trigger for eczema, Neosporin recommends learning some stress management techniques, maintaining communication with teachers, and staying on top of assignments.  In terms of coping with the winter weather, Neosporin recommends using a humidifier, taking Vitamin D supplements (a lack of Vitamin D can cause flare-ups!), using moisturizer, and wearing protective clothing that will keep you nice and warm.

Even though my children don’t experience the harsh eczema this had when they were younger, I still feel it would be beneficial to try the products to help us through the winter months.  My kids’ skin is so dry!  I’m relieved there are products that aren’t harsh for their skin and can help relieve the itching!
